PRIMARY DUTIES
DOCKET MANAGEMENT-CRIMINAL
1. Maintain and control the felony and misdemeanor criminal dockets for the court. This includes the setting and preparation of weekly and monthly dockets for each court.
2. Attend and assist the court in calling dockets to get announcements and resetting cases for date and purpose certain.
3. Notification to attorneys, defendants, and bondsmen on criminal case settings.
4. Initiate more efficient procedures on dockets and caseflow to enable fair and speedy disposition in all criminal cases.
5. Maintain statistical data and records on caseflow and time elements involved in criminal cases for planning and performance purposes.
6. Set and supervise special dockets for revocation of probation hearings, pleas of guilty, all pre-trial matters, and any other docket required by the court.
7. Notify jail division of defendants in custody and their scheduled dates and times for appearances in court.
8. Plan and assign space to courts and for court-related activities.
9. Reports directly to Senior Court Coordinator.
TRIAL MANAGEMENT
1. Set trial dockets.
2. Plan and supervise the mechanics of notice to all connected with trials.
3. Coordinate the availability of lawyers, parties, and court personnel.
4. Reset all cases where resolution is not reached for trial.
5. Make recommendations for Court improvements and procedures.
RECORDS AND REPORTS
1. Supervise record keeping of all criminal court functions.
2. Prepare periodic reports to the judges, commissioners’ court, and other departments.
3. Prepare an annual report and analysis of court work
4. Maintain schedules, statistics, and other matters for the bench, bar and general public.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
1. Maintain awareness of developments in court administration.
2. Participate in continuing professional education programs.
SECONDARY DUTIES
GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
1. Expedite all other non-routine administrative matters as they arise.
2. Evaluate various court functions.
3. Prepare and coordinate court schedules.
4. Prepare non-routine correspondence for judge.
FISCAL
1. Select and prepare specifications and acquire furniture, furnishings, and other capital equipment for the courts.
2. Supervise periodic inventories.
3. Plan the acquisition of operating supplies.
4. Help prepare court budgets and assist in budgeting for court related departments.
5. Control budget spending.
6. Assist in preparing budget amendments.
SALARY: $55,000
JOB IS GRANT FUNDED THROUGH AUGUST 2023.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- H. S. Diploma required.
- Bachelors’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
